Starting from 4 December 2021, Massimiliano Camellini presents his photographic project "Al di là dell'acqua" in Venice, in the evocative settings of SPARC*-  Spazio Arte Contemporanea. The exhibition includes a series of over 20 black and white shots, all rigorously calibrated in terms of content and form, as is typical of the artist's work. Massimiliano Camellini chose to explore the theme of travel as a boundless desire for discovery. The metaphorical key of a path, which is firstly existential, takes the artist inside the cargo ships where he focuses on the life that takes place on board, looking beyond the surface of the sea or the ocean, visible through the porthole and in the direction of a destination that is not only geographical. The fascination that enchanted him oscillates between the sense of freedom and the exorcization of fear for the unknown, reconnecting to Alessandro Baricco's work Novecento, transformed by Giuseppe Tornatore into the film "The legend of the pianist on the ocean", where the protagonist prefers the ship to the mainland as the former is projected - always and in any case - towards the infinite dream of discovery.

"Al di là dell'acqua" arrives in Venice after being exhibited in Parma, at BAG Gallery, in Genoa at Museoteatro della Commenda di Prè in collaboration with Mu.MA - Musei del Mare e delle Migrazioni, in London at Brick Lane Gallery, in Rome at Leica Gallery, in Perth (Australia) at PCP, Perth Center for Photography.
