THERE YOU ARE - IN THE MILK OF DREAMS // SCREENING

The film focuses on the essence of the creative process of the contemporary visual artist Michail Michailov and the curator Irina Batkova, presenting their project ‘ THERE YOU ARE” on building the Bulgarian pavilion for the 59th edition of the Venice Biennale in 2022.

Michail Michailov is an artist who works with a variety of media (performance, drawing, video, sculpture, installation) to create meditative territories in which the viewer is invited to comprehend the unexpected aspects of existence. At the core of There You Are project lies the Dust to Dust drawings (winner of the Drawing Now Paris Art Award 2018), masterfully capturing the microscopic detritus of human existence.
The exhibition metaphorically describes the lonely search for meaning in the dynamics of everyday life.

Filming for a month the day by day creation of the “site specific” artwork THERE YOU ARE, the camera of director Milena Kaneva witnesses the emotional opening of the 59th Biennale of Venice and gives us a glance on the ideas of the curator Cecilia Alemani and the President of the Biennale Roberto Cicutto.
