Roberto Barbato
Roberto Barbato's photography has the flavour of a distant era. His photographs are honest, sincere, and without illsuions. Far from the distorted glossy reality produced by digital techniques, and far from an attempt to heighten colours and details in post-production. Barbato's work present moments of everyday life impressed in the artist's retina. Inspired by three islands, three places where Barbato lived and immersed himself in, and the sea that surrounds them: Sicily, Manhattan, and Venice.
Born in Sicily in 1951, Roberto Barbato has been a professional photographer since 1971. He is a professor of Media Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. He has worked as a photographer worldwide and has been employed by publishing houses as well as advertising and television companies.
