Hand-blown glass and high performance materials. A creative team and on-going project of experiments in glass. A new collection of unique pieces that challenge the aesthetics of Venetian glass.
BTM is an exploration in experimental approaches to the traditional techniques of glass making, taking the Venetian glass as a starting point. The objective is to explore the possibility to design textures and patterns on the fabric and to transfer them onto the surface of the glass. BTM consists of an international team of seven designers and a material scientist, formed in the winter of 2011, with the shared goal of investigating the possibilities of introducing innovation to glass production, whilst respecting the legacy and nuances of the Venetian tradition.
British designer Rebecca Hoyes was invited to contribute to this project with her great expertise on textile and pattern making, and for her ability to interpret the context in which the project develops.
