Rhian Hâf presents the exhibition Captured Moments, an exploration into glass's inherent ability to transmit and absorb light through a dynamic composition of dark shadows contrasting with rays of reflected and refracted light. Light becomes a subject of creative imagination where the artistic process involves translating and developing personal observations of silent, transient moments; the play of light and shadow within architectural spaces or a reflection projected onto a plane of glass. Incorporating photographic research, drawing and expanding further, Hâf captures these fleeting moments and uses them as a basis to develop into a body of work.
The artist aims to capture both the ordinary and the extraordinary, comparing the familiar with the unfamiliar; glass as a medium enables Hâf to translate personal ephemeral observations into visible static states, presenting them to the observer with a creative approach and offering a dialogue of perception and reflection. The ambience and transience of shadows in intentional stillness demonstrates glass's fundamental and simple capabilities as a material, which often tends to go unnoticed.
